Letter

Hi Chinki,

How are you and everyone else in the family? I really missed you a lot but could not write to you in past 6 years because of plethora of reasons. I really want to apologize for not being in contact for so many years and not wishing you for your birthdays too. I just got busy with settling things in my life because I had to leave Srinagar in a hurry and come to Delhi to start my life all together afresh. Please do not think that I am giving an excuse because I would not ever do that and you know this very well.

The other day I saw two teenage girls chitchatting in the park and thought of us. Do you remember the way we used to wait desperately for the evening to come in order to walk around in that big park across the street and share every single detail of our daily life? I miss all of that and the fact that you were my only best friend at that time made you all the more special. No one has been able to take your place in my life and you remain my very same Chinki, who used to love me like an elder sister. You were the one who introduced me to all your locality friends and then left them all for me! I could not meet you before leaving Srinagar and since then, believe me; I have been dying to tell you all that happened in my life.

After my dad got transferred to the national capital of India, I had a lot to look after. I completed my schooling from SPS, Rohini with the stream being Commerce. I know you might be finding it strange that how could I opt for it when I cannot juggle with numbers and hated mathematics from the core! Nevertheless, I guess, fate has it all.
Then I went on a step further to study Mass Communication from Indraprastha College, Delhi University at my graduation level. It was the most memorable time of my life because I was mature enough to understand what was happening around me and enjoyed my studies too. The ambience was very nice and I loved the fact that my college was near Kamala Nagar (referred to as K’nags). Every Saturday after the classes got over, we all used to hangout there for shopping and ate ‘momos’. I learnt a lot from my college and it was a stepping-stone in my career. By the way, I draped sari for the very first time on my Farewell and got the title of Ms. Rapunzel. Please do not look shocked when you read this line because I have actually grown my hair till lower back and in college I had no competition as none of the others girls had such long hair. However, it is very difficult to manage them. Also at the same time, I met a guy named Sameer, with whom I am into a relationship till date. He is a Navy Officer and a typical Leo, just like you. I will send you our pictures soon.
Currently, I am in South Mumbai studying Social Communication Media course at Sophia Polytechnic. I am staying at the hostel and have made some very good friends. My classes started few weeks back and believe me it is very hectic. Although I sleep for five hours but then also I feel sleepy in my classes. Mine is a one-year course and I pray every single day that it gets over as soon as possible so that I get to go back home quickly.
I hope I did not bore you with my silly talks but there is still more that I need to share with you. I can go on and on and on but I know even you have a lot to share and bombard me with updates.

I will eagerly wait for your reply and hope that we will be in regular touch now. Do try to come to Mumbai in your vacations and we will have a gala time here. Give regards to uncle, aunty and Cheeku.

Love
Ishitaa
