Letter

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Dear Amit,
I feel as though decades have passed since we spoke to each other. One day I was sitting by the window and was thinking of our childhood together and I realized that it has indeed been a decade since we meet or have spoken to each other. How time flies by. So how have you been? How are your parents?
After all the time we spent together it feels so formal to ask you how you have been or how your parents have been since I spent most of my time at your place when we were in Kindergarten. I recall this particular incident ever now and then when every evening after school I used to come over to your place and we used to use the wicker chairs at your place as cars and get out your dad’s old tool kit and start repairing it and pretend we are mechanics and repair every chair and sofa in the house. And every night when I went home at 9 P.M. ( we only lived ten houses apart still we never wanted to stay away from each other) I used to shout “battery” all the way up until my place and even after reaching home I used to rush inside bring a torch outside and signal to each other. It brings a smile to my face every time I think of it. Or remember that other time when we went looking for those tiny miniscule fishes you get in the water and looked all afternoon in the hot sun and found them, put them in a plastic cover and then put them in the sump. You mom and my mom almost fainted when they saw what we had done. Sometimes I wish we had never grown up, life had never changed as it has now and we could still run around chasing tires, bursting crackers and climbing trees.
Anyways I finished my graduation from Christ College ,Bangalore in Business Management and I applied to Sophia Polytechnic in Mumbai for a post graduation in Communications. I got lucky and got through the college. The strange thing for me is its an all girls college but the faculty and the campus is brilliant. And the best part is a got myself a flat in South Bombay which is very close to my college and hence very easy to Commute to and fro.
Please tell me what you have been up-to lately and what are your plans for the future, and let me know when you will be coming to Mumbai I would love to catch up with you and take a walk down memry lane with a cup of coffee. I will be leaving you with the same thought I left you with when I was leaving Mysore. “whenever you feel the world is spinning so fast that you cannot seem to carry on…and everyone around you has nothing but a frown…remember that I am always there to hold your hand and the one who always walks beside you and holds on”….
